  5. 5. Peel the garlic cloves.
  6. 6. Slice the garlic into thin slices or small pieces.
  7. 7. Add the chopped anchovies and the garlic to a small saucepan along with the oil.
  8. 8. Place the saucepan on a very low heat setting.
  9. 9. Let the mixture simmer gently over low heat for 25 to 30 minutes.
  10. 10. Ensure that the anchovies and garlic do not brown, but only release their flavors.
  11. 11. Remove the saucepan from the heat briefly or reduce the heat to zero.
  12. 12. Add the butter to the warm oil mixture.
  13. 13. Stir until the butter has completely melted and combined with the oil.
