🍳 Fluffy Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
- 425 g wheat flour Type 1050
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 packet baking powder
- 15 g fine sea salt
- 375 g whole wheat flour
- 625 ml buttermilk
- 1 egg (L)
Instructions
- 1. Put the wheat flour (Type 1050), baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
- 2. Sift the dry ingredients through a sieve into the bowl.
- 3. Mix the sifted flour with the wholemeal flour.
- 4. Pour the buttermilk into the bowl.
- 5. Crack the egg into the bowl.
- 6. Stir all ingredients vigorously until a dough forms.
- 7. Sprinkle some flour onto your work surface.
- 8. Place the dough onto the floured surface.
- 9. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
- 10. Stop kneading when the dough is smooth and pliable.
- 11. Shape the dough into a round loaf.
- 12. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 13. Place the loaf onto the prepared tray.
- 14. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C fan or gas mark 3).
- 15. Slide the tray onto the second rack from the bottom in the oven.
- 16. Bake the bread for 40 to 45 minutes.
- 17. Take the bread out of the oven.
- 18. Place the bread on a wire rack or cake rack.
- 19. Let the bread cool completely before slicing it.
