  2. 2. Remove the tough core from each pineapple quarter.
  3. 3. Dice the pineapple flesh into small cubes.
  4. 4. Peel the pears and cut them into quarters as well.
  5. 5. Remove the core from the pear quarters.
  6. 6. Dice the pear flesh into small cubes.
  7. 7. Drizzle the diced fruit with lemon juice.
  8. 8. Mix the pears with the pineapple in a bowl.
  9. 9. Weigh the prepared fruit.
  10. 10. Add half the weight of the fruit in pectin sugar (e.g., 500 g sugar for 1 kg fruit).
  11. 11. Stir the fruit and sugar well in a pot.
  12. 12. Peel the ginger.
  13. 13. Grate the ginger finely into the fruit mixture.
  14. 14. Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise.
  15. 15. Add the sliced vanilla pod to the fruit.
  16. 16. Let the mixture steep for about 15 minutes.
  17. 17. Bring the fruit mixture to a boil.
  18. 18. Let the jam bubble and cook for about 4 minutes while stirring constantly.
  19. 19. Perform a gel test to check the consistency.
  20. 20. Remove the vanilla pod from the jam.
  21. 21. Fill the hot jam immediately into prepared jars.
  22. 22. Seal the jars immediately.
  23. 23. Let the jars cool down completely.
