  2. 2. Place the cheese cubes into a clean jar.
  3. 3. Peel the shallot and the garlic.
  4. 4. Slice the shallot into thin rounds.
  5. 5. Finely chop the garlic or slice it thinly.
  6. 6. Add the shallot and garlic pieces to the cheese in the jar.
  7. 7. Rinse the fresh herb sprigs under running water.
  8. 8. Shake the herbs dry so no water remains.
  9. 9. Pluck the leaves from the stems and tear them into smaller pieces.
  10. 10. Add the herbs to the jar as well.
  11. 11. Season the contents of the jar with black pepper.
  12. 12. Pour olive oil over everything until the cheese is completely covered.
  13. 13. Seal the jar tightly with a lid.
