  1. 1. Put butter, sugar, vinegar, and water into a mixing bowl.
  2. 2. Beat the mixture with an electric hand mixer until creamy.
  3. 3. Stir in the flour until a smooth dough forms.
  4. 4. Roll the dough into small balls.
  5. 5. Grease two baking sheets well with butter.
  6. 6. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. 7. Dip the handle of a cooking spoon into cold water.
  8. 8. Press small indentations into each dough ball using the wet handle.
  9. 9. Fill the indentations with warmed jelly.
  10. 10. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  11. 11. Bake the pastries for about 10 minutes in the center of the oven.
  12. 12. Remove them as soon as they are lightly browned.
  13. 13. Let the pastries cool down while still hot from the oven.
  14. 14. Dust them with powdered sugar if desired.
