🍽️ Crispy Chicken Gratin with Melted Cheese

Ingredients
- 1000 g chicken drumsticks (4 chicken drumsticks)
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 800 g chopped tomatoes (can)
- salt
- pepper
- nutmeg
- 125 g mozzarella (9% fat; 1 ball)
- 10 leaves sage
- 40 g Parma ham (4 slices)
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the chicken drumsticks under cold water and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- 2. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a frying pan.
- 3. Sear the chicken drumsticks over high heat for three to four minutes.
- 4. Remove the chicken drumsticks from the pan and let them drain on kitchen paper.
- 5. Peel the onion and the garlic clove and chop both finely.
- 6. Heat the remaining oil in the same pan.
- 7. Sauté the onions and garlic over medium heat for two to three minutes.
- 8. Add the tomatoes.
- 9. Let the sauce simmer covered over low heat for ten minutes.
- 10. Slice the mozzarella.
- 11. Wash the sage leaves and shake them dry.
- 12. Season the tomato sauce with salt, pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg.
- 13. Place the seasoned sauce into a baking dish.
- 14. Arrange the chicken drumsticks on top of the sauce.
- 15. Top each piece with one slice of ham.
- 16. Place two to three sage leaves on each piece.
- 17. Cover each piece with a slice of mozzarella.
- 18. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (convection 180 degrees or gas mark 3).
- 19. Bake the gratin for about 40 minutes in the preheated oven.
