🍽️ Chicken with Fruit

Ingredients
- 1 chicken (approx. 1.4 kg)
- 1 onion
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 cm ginger
- salt
- pepper
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 small, dried chili peppers
- 2 oranges (the squeezed juice)
- 200 ml poultry broth
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 mango
- 2 tbsp chive rings
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the chicken under running water.
- 2. Pat the meat dry with a kitchen towel.
- 3. Cut the chicken into 6 to 8 equal pieces.
- 4. Peel the onion, the garlic clove, and the piece of ginger.
- 5. Finely dice the onion, the garlic, and the ginger.
- 6. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
- 7. Heat the oil in a hot cast-iron pot.
- 8. Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown.
- 9. Remove the fried chicken from the pot and set it aside.
- 10. Add the diced onion, garlic, chilies, and ginger to the pot.
- 11. Sauté the vegetables briefly.
- 12. Deglaze the mixture with the orange juice.
- 13. Pour in the broth.
- 14. Stir in the honey.
- 15. Return the chicken to the pot.
- 16. Cover the pot.
- 17. Let the chicken simmer for about 30 minutes.
- 18. Peel the mango.
- 19. Cut the flesh off the pit in pieces.
- 20. Add the mango to the pot.
- 21. Cook the mango along with the dish for the last 10 minutes.
- 22. Finally, season the dish to taste with salt and pepper.
- 23. Sprinkle the finished dish with fresh chives.
- 24. Serve the chicken warm.
