  3. 3. Let the sausages sit in the water for about 10 minutes, but do not let them boil.
  4. 4. Slice the buns lengthwise.
  5. 5. Remove the sausages from the water and pat them dry.
  6. 6. Fill the sliced buns with the onions.
  7. 7. Place the warm sausages into the buns.
  8. 8. Add ketchup and mustard and serve the hot dogs on plates.
