🍽️ Homemade Hot Dog with Quick Relish

Ingredients
- 1 small onion
- 1 red chili pepper
- 1 cucumber
- 1 stalk celery
- 120 g pickles
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 pinch clove powder
- 80 ml apple cider vinegar
- 120 g brown sugar
- 0.5 tsp pepper (from the grinder)
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 hot dog buns (e.g. with sesame)
- 4 red sausages
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 red onion
- 35 g green olives (jar)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onion and grate it finely.
- 2. Wash the chili, remove the seeds, and dice it finely.
- 3. Peel the cucumber, halve it lengthwise, scrape out the seeds, and grate the flesh finely.
- 4. Wash the celery, remove the fibrous strings, and dice it into very small cubes.
- 5. Dice the pickles into small pieces as well.
- 6. Peel the onion and chop it finely.
- 7. Place all prepared ingredients, the ginger, mustard seeds, and cloves into a pot.
- 8. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
- 9. Stir frequently to prevent anything from burning.
- 10. Pour in the vinegar and stir the relish well.
- 11. Lightly toast the buns.
- 12. Heat oil in a grill pan and grill the sausages for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
- 13. Wash the tomatoes, remove the stem area, and slice them.
- 14. Peel the red onion and dice it finely.
- 15. Drain the olives and slice them.
- 16. Slice the buns lengthwise, but do not cut all the way through.
- 17. Fill the buns with relish, sausages, onions, tomatoes, and olives.
- 18. Serve the hot dogs immediately.
