  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2. Warm the honey together with the sugar and butter in a pot over low heat.
  3. 3. Stir until the sugar and butter have completely dissolved.
  4. 4. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool down.
  5. 5. Stir the egg yolks into the cooled honey-sugar mixture.
  6. 6. Add the flour, spices, baking powder, and almonds.
  7. 7. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
  8. 8. Dice the marzipan paste and the pineapple very finely.
  9. 9. Knead the fine cubes into the dough.
  10. 10. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 5 millimeters.
  11. 11. Cut out circles with a diameter of 5 centimeters using a round cutter.
  12. 12. Place the dough circles on wafer cookies (thin, crispy wafers).
  13. 13. Bake the cakes in the preheated oven for about 12 to 13 minutes.
  14. 14. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool completely.
  15. 15. Mix powdered sugar with a little water until a liquid icing forms.
  16. 16. Brush the cooled honey cakes with the sugar icing.
  17. 17. Decorate the cakes with candied cherries and almond slivers.
