🍽️ Heart-shaped Cookies

Ingredients
- 200 g soft butter
- 80 g sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 20 ml cognac
- 1 knife tip nutmeg
- 300 g flour
- 5 tbsp apricot jam
- 100 g powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- red food coloring
Instructions
- 1. Beat the butter together with the sugar, a pinch of salt, and the vanilla sugar until creamy.
- 2. Stir the egg yolk into the butter mixture.
- 3. Add the cognac and the grated nutmeg.
- 4. Mix everything well with the flour.
- 5. Shape the dough into two balls.
- 6. Cover the balls.
- 7. Place them in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
- 8. Roll each dough ball between two sheets of baking paper to a thickness of 3 to 4 millimeters.
- 9. Cut out the cookies using a heart-shaped cutter (about 3.5 centimeters in diameter).
- 10. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 11. Bake them in the preheated oven at 180 degrees on the middle rack for 10 to 12 minutes until golden yellow.
- 12. Let the cookies cool down briefly on the baking sheet first.
- 13. Then remove them from the sheet.
- 14. Let them cool completely on a cake rack.
- 15. Warm the jam in a small saucepan.
- 16. Spread the warm jam on the bottom of half of the cookies.
- 17. Place the remaining cookies on top as lids.
- 18. Stir the powdered sugar with the lemon juice to form a smooth glaze.
- 19. Take a small part of the white glaze aside.
- 20. Color the rest of the glaze with food coloring.
- 21. Coat the cookies with it.
- 22. Let the cookies dry.
- 23. Fill the reserved white glaze into a piping bag.
- 24. Cut off a small corner.
- 25. Decorate the cookies with it.
