  2. 2. Peel the carrots and slice them into thin, diagonal rounds.
  3. 3. Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings.
  4. 4. Place the carrots and onions in a heatproof baking dish.
  5. 5. Place the herrings on top of the vegetables.
  6. 6. Slice the lemon into thin rounds.
  7. 7. Roughly chop the parsley.
  8. 8. Distribute the lemon slices and parsley among the fish.
  9. 9. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
  10. 10. Bring the vinegar to a boil in a saucepan.
  11. 11. Pour the hot vinegar over the herrings.
  12. 12. Place the dish in the oven and bake the herrings for about 30 minutes.
  13. 13. Remove the dish occasionally and spoon the cooking liquid over the fish.
  14. 14. Let the herrings cool down in the cooking liquid.
  15. 15. Serve the herrings along with the cooking liquid.
