Ingredients
- 6 Herrings
- 2 Carrots
- 2 Onions
- 1 Garlic clove
- 1 unpeeled Lemon
- 0.5 l Apple cider vinegar
- 2 Parsley sprigs
Instructions
- 1. Have the fishmonger clean the herrings, then wash and dry them thoroughly.
- 2. Peel the carrots and slice them into thin, diagonal rounds.
- 3. Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings.
- 4. Place the carrots and onions in a heatproof baking dish.
- 5. Place the herrings on top of the vegetables.
- 6. Slice the lemon into thin rounds.
- 7. Roughly chop the parsley.
- 8. Distribute the lemon slices and parsley among the fish.
- 9. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
- 10. Bring the vinegar to a boil in a saucepan.
- 11. Pour the hot vinegar over the herrings.
- 12. Place the dish in the oven and bake the herrings for about 30 minutes.
- 13. Remove the dish occasionally and spoon the cooking liquid over the fish.
- 14. Let the herrings cool down in the cooking liquid.
- 15. Serve the herrings along with the cooking liquid.
