- 150 ml lukewarm water (or milk)
- 60 g butter (or vegetable oil)
- 1 egg
- 1 pinch salt
- flour (for working)
Instructions
- 1. Sift the flour into a large bowl. A terracotta bowl is ideal because it retains heat well.
- 2. Make a well in the center of the flour.
- 3. Crumble the yeast into this well.
- 4. Sprinkle one tablespoon of sugar over the yeast.
- 5. Pour two to three tablespoons of water over it.
- 6. Stir everything with a little flour to form a thick starter dough.
- 7. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel.
- 8. Let the dough rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes.
- 9. Place the bowl on the radiator or in the oven preheated to 50 degrees Celsius.
- 10. Meanwhile, take the butter and egg out of the refrigerator.
- 11. Let them reach room temperature.
- 12. Add the remaining sugar, butter, egg, and salt to the dough.
- 13. Pour in the remaining liquid gradually.
- 14. Knead everything well with your hands.
- 15. Continue kneading the dough until it is smooth and soft.
- 16. The dough is ready when it pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- 17. This process takes up to 10 minutes.
- 18. Cover the dough again.
- 19. Let it rest for about one hour.
- 20. The dough should double in volume.
- 21. Shape the dough as needed or roll it out.
- 22. Bake the pastry in the oven at 180 to 220 degrees Celsius.
- 23. Watch the baking time, as it depends on the size of the pastry.
