🍽️ Yeast Dough Chicks

Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 1 cube yeast
- 6 tbsp water
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g butter
- 3 eggs
- 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
- raisins (for the eyes)
- 8 almond kernels
Instructions
- 1. Sift the flour into a large bowl.
- 2. Make a well in the center of the flour.
- 3. Mix the yeast with lukewarm water and one teaspoon of sugar.
- 4. Pour the yeast mixture into the well.
- 5. Dust the surface with a little flour.
- 6. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 15 minutes.
- 7. Melt the butter.
- 8. Add the remaining sugar and the eggs to the pre-dough.
- 9. Add the melted butter.
- 10. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
- 11. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- 12. Knead the dough briefly.
- 13. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.
- 14. Shape the pieces into 8 balls.
- 15. Flour a work surface.
- 16. Shape each piece of dough into a roll about 25 centimeters long.
- 17. Tie the dough roll once in the middle.
- 18. Place a dough ball as a head in the center of the knot.
- 19. Press raisins into the head as eyes.
- 20. Place almond halves on as a beak.
- 21. Place the chicks on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 22. Let the chicks rest for another 15 minutes.
- 23. Whisk the egg yolk.
- 24. Brush the chicks with the egg yolk.
- 25. Bake the chicks at 180 degrees for 15 minutes.
