  2. 2. Rinse the chicken under cold running water.
  3. 3. Pat the meat completely dry with kitchen paper.
  4. 4. Cut the chicken open along the backbone using kitchen shears.
  5. 5. Flatten the back and press the breast side down slightly.
  6. 6. Stand the chicken legs up.
  7. 7. Rinse the basil briefly under cold water.
  8. 8. Shake the basil dry.
  9. 9. Finely chop the basil leaves.
  10. 10. Peel the garlic clove.
  11. 11. Press the garlic into a small bowl.
  12. 12. Add the lemon juice and lemon zest to the bowl.
  13. 13. Add six tablespoons of oil.
  14. 14. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and paprika powder.
  15. 15. Mix all marinade ingredients well together.
  16. 16. Coat the chicken thoroughly with the marinade.
  17. 17. Place the chicken on the hot grill grate.
  18. 18. Grill the chicken for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  19. 19. Turn the chicken occasionally while grilling.
  20. 20. Brush the meat repeatedly with the remaining marinade.
