🍽️ Chicken pieces in citrus sauce

Ingredients
- 1 chicken (of approx. 1,5 kg, cut into pieces)
- 2 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
- 1 red onion (cut into wedges)
- 2 untreated oranges (from one 1/2 orange the grated zest)
- 2 limes (from 1 lime the zest)
- cumin powder
- oregano
- 30 g butter
- olive oil (cold pressed)
- salt
- 1 fresh chili pepper (finely chopped)
Instructions
- 1. Place the chicken pieces in a bowl.
- 2. Add the garlic, onions, orange zest, lime zest, cumin, oregano, chili, and salt.
- 3. Mix everything thoroughly until the spices adhere well.
- 4. Cover the bowl.
- 5. Place the bowl in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours to let the marinade soak in.
- 6. Take the chicken pieces out of the marinade and pat them dry.
- 7. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and the butter in a high non-stick pan.
- 8. Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown on all sides.
- 9. Reduce the heat and cover the pan.
- 10. Let the meat simmer for 25 minutes.
- 11. Turn the chicken occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- 12. Remove the cooked chicken pieces from the pan.
- 13. Place the chicken on a large plate.
- 14. Cut the oranges and the lime, including the peel, into pieces.
- 15. Pour the remaining marinade from the bowl into the pan.
- 16. Add the cut citrus fruits to the pan.
- 17. Fry the mixture over high heat for 5 to 6 minutes.
- 18. Pour the sauce with the fruit over the chicken.
- 19. Serve the dish immediately.
