🍽️ English Meat Pie with Mashed Potato Topping

Ingredients
- 600 g starchy potatoes
- Salt
- 3 Carrots
- 2 Onions
- 800 g Beef mince
- 2 tbsp Sunflower oil
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 300 ml Meat broth
- Salt
- Pepper (from the mill)
- 250 ml hot milk
- Nutmeg
- Butter (for molds)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 2. Peel the potatoes and wash them.
- 3. Boil the potatoes in salted water for 25 to 30 minutes.
- 4. Peel the carrot and dice it very finely.
- 5. Peel the onions and dice them finely.
- 6. Fry the minced meat in hot oil until it is crumbly.
- 7. Add the diced vegetables to the meat and fry them together.
- 8. Stir the tomato paste into the meat and vegetable mixture.
- 9. Pour in the broth and season everything with salt and pepper.
- 10. Drain the boiled potatoes and let them drip dry.
- 11. Mash the potatoes into a puree.
- 12. Stir the hot milk into the mashed potatoes.
- 13. Season the puree with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 14. Grease four individual serving dishes with butter.
- 15. Fill the meat mixture into the prepared dishes.
- 16. Fill the mashed potatoes into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle.
- 17. Distribute the mashed potatoes evenly over the meat in the dishes.
- 18. Bake the pies in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
- 19. Remove the pies from the oven and serve immediately.
- 20. Serve with peas and carrots on the side if desired.
