🍽️ Bohemian Beef Goulash with Onions and Gnocchi

Ingredients
- 1 kg beef goulash (from chuck or neck)
- 4 red onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 200 ml dry red wine
- 500 ml meat broth
- 2 tbsp paprika powder (sweet)
- salt
- cayenne pepper
- parsley (for garnishing)
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the meat under running water.
- 2. Pat the meat dry with a kitchen towel.
- 3. Cut the meat into small cubes.
- 4. Peel the onions and the garlic clove.
- 5. Mince the garlic finely.
- 6. Chop the onions into coarse pieces.
- 7. Heat the oil in a large pot.
- 8. Add the meat to the pot.
- 9. Sear the meat on high heat.
- 10. Stir the meat constantly.
- 11. Cook the meat until it is brown.
- 12. Add the onion pieces to the meat.
- 13. Add the cumin.
- 14. Sauté the onions and cumin briefly.
- 15. Stir in the garlic.
- 16. Stir in the tomato paste.
- 17. Deglaze the goulash with the red wine.
- 18. Add about 300 milliliters of meat broth.
- 19. Add the paprika powder.
- 20. Cover the pot halfway.
- 21. Simmer the goulash on low heat.
- 22. Simmer the goulash for approx. 1.5 hours.
- 23. Check if the meat is tender.
- 24. Stir the goulash occasionally.
- 25. Add more broth if necessary.
- 26. Season the goulash with salt to taste.
- 27. Season the goulash with cayenne pepper to taste.
- 28. Chop the fresh parsley.
- 29. Garnish the goulash with the parsley.
- 30. Serve the goulash with gnocchi.
