🍽️ Crispy Green Beans with Caramelized Onions

Ingredients
- 600 g princess beans
- salt
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 star fruit
- 2 red onions
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds (coarsely crushed)
- pepper (from the mill)
- 4 tbsp white balsamic vinegar
Instructions
- 1. Thoroughly wash the green beans.
- 2. Trim the hard ends from both sides of the beans.
- 3. Remove any fibrous side strings if present.
- 4. Fill a large pot with water and add some salt.
- 5. Bring the water to a boil.
- 6. Add the savory herb to the boiling water.
- 7. Place the prepared beans into the water.
- 8. Cook the beans for about 8 minutes.
- 9. Drain the beans.
- 10. Rinse the beans immediately with cold water to stop the cooking process (this is called blanching).
- 11. Wash the star fruit under running water.
- 12. Slice the star fruit into thin rounds.
- 13. Peel the onions.
- 14. Halve the onions.
- 15. Slice the onion halves into thin slices.
- 16. Heat the oil in a pan.
- 17. Add the onion slices to the hot pan.
- 18. Sauté the onions briefly.
- 19. Add the mustard seeds to the pan.
- 20. Add the blanched beans to the pan.
- 21. Toss the ingredients gently so they warm through.
- 22. Season the mixture with pepper.
- 23. Add vinegar.
- 24. Finally, adjust the seasoning with salt and other spices to taste.
- 25. Transfer the green beans with onions into a serving bowl.
- 26. Garnish the dish with the prepared star fruit slices.
- 27. Serve the dish warm.
