  1. 1. Peel the apples and cut them in half.
  2. 2. Remove the core from the apple halves.
  3. 3. Slice the apple halves fan-style, but do not cut all the way through.
  4. 4. Drizzle the apples with lemon juice.
  5. 5. Dice the apricots finely.
  6. 6. Mix sour cream, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, and grated marzipan in a bowl.
  7. 7. Put butter, sugar, grated marzipan, lemon zest, and vanilla sugar in a separate bowl.
  8. 8. Mix the ingredients for the dough well.
  9. 9. Stir in the eggs and milk one after the other into the dough.
  10. 10. Mix flour and baking powder.
  11. 11. Stir the flour mixture into the dough briefly.
  12. 12. Grease a deep baking sheet and dust it with flour.
  13. 13. Spread the dough on the baking sheet.
  14. 14. Press the apple halves into the dough.
  15. 15. Pour the sour cream mixture over the apples.
  16. 16. Sprinkle almond slices over the top.
  17. 17. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius or gas mark 3.
  18. 18. Bake the cake for approx. 50 minutes.
  19. 19. Let the cake cool on a wire rack.
  20. 20. Dust the cake with powdered sugar.
  21. 21. Serve the cake with semi-whipped cream.
