Ingredients
- 200 g soft butter
- 150 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 20 ml ouzo
- 2 eggs
- 1 pinch salt
- 400 g flour
- 125 g peeled, ground almond kernels
- 40 cloves
- 50 ml orange blossom water (Greek grocery store or pharmacy)
- powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Mix the butter in a bowl with regular sugar and vanilla sugar until the mixture is fluffy and airy. Then stir in the ouzo, eggs, and a pinch of salt.
- 2. Add the flour and ground almonds to the butter mixture and knead everything into a smooth dough. Shape the dough into two long rolls, wrap each roll individually in plastic wrap, and let the dough rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
- 3. Divide the dough into 40 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round, slightly domed form with a height of about 1.5 centimeters.
- 4. Place the cookies on two baking sheets lined with parchment paper, leaving a gap of about 2 centimeters between them. Stick a clove into the center of each cookie.
- 5. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove them, place them on a wire rack, and brush them while warm with orange blossom water. Dust them with powdered sugar and let them cool completely.
