  1. 1. Peel the beetroot thoroughly.
  2. 2. Cut each beet in half.
  3. 3. Cut each half into three equal wedges.
  4. 4. Place the beet pieces in a non-stick pan.
  5. 5. Make sure the bottom of the pan is completely covered.
  6. 6. Pour in enough water to cover the beets halfway.
  7. 7. Add butter, maple syrup, salt, and a pinch of pepper to the pan.
  8. 8. Cover the pan with a lid.
  9. 9. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  10. 10. Reduce the heat to medium.
  11. 11. Cook the beets for ten minutes.
  12. 12. Stir occasionally while cooking.
  13. 13. Remove the lid from the pan.
  14. 14. Continue cooking the beets uncovered for another four to five minutes.
  15. 15. Wait until all the water has evaporated.
  16. 16. Fry the beets for another four minutes.
  17. 17. Stir constantly until they are caramelized all over.
  18. 18. Wash the parsley thoroughly.
  19. 19. Spin the parsley dry.
  20. 20. Pluck the leaves from the stems.
  21. 21. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
  22. 22. Set aside the parsley for the very end.
  23. 23. Stir the chopped parsley into the beets just before the end of cooking time.
