🍰 Homemade Ginger Lemonade Drink

Ingredients
- 125 g ginger (1 piece)
- 100 g cane sugar
- 2 limes (of which 1 organic)
- 2 oranges (of which 1 organic)
- liquid sweetener (to taste)
- cold mineral water (to taste)
- 4 sprigs mint
- Also: ice cubes
Instructions
- 1. Peel the ginger.
- 2. Grate the peeled ginger on a fine grater.
- 3. Add 1.25 liters of water and the sugar to a pot.
- 4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 5. Add the grated ginger to the boiling liquid.
- 6. Let the mixture simmer for 1 minute.
- 7. Thoroughly wash the organic lime and organic orange.
- 8. Dry the fruits with a cloth.
- 9. Peel off the thinnest layer of the peel using a vegetable peeler.
- 10. Place the citrus peels into a carafe.
- 11. Pour the hot ginger liquid over the peels.
- 12. Let the mixture cool down at room temperature.
- 13. Halve the fruits.
- 14. Squeeze the juice from the fruits.
- 15. Add the fresh citrus juice to the carafe.
- 16. Cover the carafe with a kitchen towel.
- 17. Let the drink steep in a dark, cool place or in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
- 18. Strain the finished drink through a fine sieve the next day.
- 19. If necessary, sweeten the drink with a little sweetener to taste.
- 20. Add ice cubes to the glasses.
- 21. Top up the drink with mineral water to your liking.
- 22. Wash the mint.
- 23. Shake the mint dry.
- 24. Pluck the mint leaves from the stems.
- 25. Garnish the drink with slices of lime and orange.
- 26. Add some mint as a garnish on top.
- 27. Serve the drink immediately.
