🍽️ Aromatic Basmati Rice with Saffron and Spices

Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 piece ginger (walnut-sized)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 250 g basmati rice
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 500 ml vegetable broth
- 2 star anise
- 0.5 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 piece cinnamon (approx. 2 cm long)
- salt
- pepper
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onion, the garlic clove, and the piece of ginger.
- 2. Finely chop the onion, the garlic, and the ginger.
- 3. Heat the oil and the butter in a pot.
- 4. Sauté the chopped ingredients together with the saffron threads over low to medium heat for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5. Add the basmati rice and sauté it for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- 6. Deglaze the mixture with the lime juice and the vegetable broth.
- 7. Add the star anise, the coriander, and the cinnamon stick to the pot.
- 8. Bring everything to a boil once.
- 9. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the pot, and let the rice steam for 12 to 15 minutes.
- 10. Stir the rice occasionally during the cooking time.
- 11. Season the rice with salt, pepper, and a little lime juice to taste.
- 12. Serve the rice hot.
