  1. 1. Clean the mussels very thoroughly.
  2. 2. Discard any mussels that are already open.
  3. 3. Crush all whole spices finely using a mortar and pestle.
  4. 4. Heat oil in a pot.
  5. 5. Sauté the shallots, pressed garlic, and spices briefly.
  6. 6. Add the diced tomatoes.
  7. 7. Cook them together for a few minutes.
  8. 8. Pour in the broth.
  9. 9. Stir in the washed rice.
  10. 10. Bring everything to a boil.
  11. 11. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
  12. 12. Cover the pot.
  13. 13. Let the rice cook for about 5 minutes.
  14. 14. Now add the mussels and the peeled beans.
  15. 15. Simmer everything for another 15 minutes.
  16. 16. Remove the pot from the heat.
  17. 17. Let the dish rest for about 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  18. 18. Season the rice with salt and pepper
