🍽️ Tender Chicken with Pumpkin in a Pot

Ingredients
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 4 chicken wings
- 5 onions
- 600 g pumpkin flesh
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 250 ml dry white wine
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 small box saffron threads
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the chicken thighs and wings under running water.
- 2. Thoroughly pat the meat dry with a kitchen towel.
- 3. Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings.
- 4. Cut the pumpkin flesh into small, even cubes.
- 5. Season the chicken pieces generously with salt and pepper.
- 6. Heat oil in a large casserole dish or pot.
- 7. Sear the chicken on all sides until golden brown.
- 8. Remove the seared chicken from the pot and set it aside.
- 9. Add the onion rings and pumpkin cubes to the hot fat.
- 10. Sauté the vegetables briefly until fragrant.
- 11. Deglaze the mixture with white wine.
- 12. Stir cinnamon and saffron into the vegetables.
- 13. Place the chicken pieces back on top of the vegetables.
- 14. Brush the chicken lightly with honey.
- 15. Season again with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- 16. Cover the pot and simmer the chicken on low heat for about 35 minutes.
- 17. Add a little more white wine if necessary, as the liquid evaporates too quickly.
- 18. Taste the dish at the end and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- 19. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the finished dish and serve hot.
