🍽️ Tender Braised Chicken with Honey Figs

Ingredients
- 1 free-range chicken (approx. 1.2 kg)
- 0.5 bunch coriander
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 onions
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 saffron threads
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 cinnamon stick
- pepper (from the mill)
- salt
- 600 g fresh figs
- 1 tbsp liquid wildflower honey
Instructions
- 1. Wash the chicken inside and out thoroughly.
- 2. Pat the meat dry with kitchen paper.
- 3. Divide the chicken into 10 equal pieces.
- 4. Wash the coriander leaves and shake them dry.
- 5. Finely chop the coriander leaves.
- 6. Peel the garlic clove and the onion.
- 7. Finely chop the garlic and the onion.
- 8. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter and olive oil in a casserole pot.
- 9. Fry the chicken pieces together with the coriander and garlic over high heat.
- 10. Let the meat fry for 5 minutes.
- 11. Add the chopped onion, saffron threads, ginger, cinnamon stick, and pepper to the pot.
- 12. Pour in 250 milliliters of water.
- 13. Cover the pot.
- 14. Let the chicken cook at medium heat for 30 to 40 minutes.
- 15. Remove the lid.
- 16. Continue cooking the dish uncovered for another 10 to 15 minutes.
- 17. Stir the sauce occasionally.
- 18. Cook the chicken until the sauce is creamy.
- 19. Season the dish with salt and pepper.
- 20. Carefully wipe the figs about 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
- 21. Halve the figs.
- 22. Heat the remaining butter in a frying pan.
- 23. Add the figs and honey to the pan.
- 24. Caramelize the figs over low heat for about 8 minutes.
- 25. Arrange the chicken on a serving platter.
- 26. Pour the sauce over the chicken.
- 27. Serve the dish with fresh white bread.
