🍰 Poached Pears in Spiced Wine Syrup

Ingredients
- 200 ml dry white wine
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 star anise
- 0.5 cinnamon stick
- 1 untreated lemon (zest and juice)
- 4 pears (e.g. Williams Christ)
Instructions
- 1. Pour the white wine and about 200 milliliters of water into a pot.
- 2. Add the sugar, your chosen spices, the lemon zest, and the lemon juice.
- 3. Bring the liquid to a boil.
- 4. Peel the pears completely.
- 5. Remove the core from the bottom using a melon baller.
- 6. Place the prepared pears into the hot syrup.
- 7. Make sure the pears are completely covered by the liquid.
- 8. Let the pears come to a boil again in the syrup.
- 9. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 10. Check the firmness of the pears.
- 11. If the pears are still too firm, let them simmer briefly on low heat.
- 12. Cover the pot.
- 13. Let the pears cool down completely inside.
- 14. Carefully remove the pears from the syrup.
- 15. Place them on the serving plates.
- 16. Drizzle the pears with some of the remaining syrup.
- 17. Garnish the dish with the lemon zest.
- 18. Serve the pears immediately.
