  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the baby artichokes.
  2. 2. Remove the tough outer leaves until only the tender inner leaves remain.
  3. 3. Cut off the top part of the artichoke so that just the tip is removed.
  4. 4. Leave part of the stem attached and peel off the tough outer layer of the stem.
  5. 5. Halve the prepared artichokes lengthwise through the center.
  6. 6. Immediately drizzle the cut surfaces with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  7. 7. Season the artichokes with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. 8. Preheat the grill or a grill pan.
  9. 9. Place the artichokes on the hot grill.
  10. 10. Grill the artichokes from the first side for about two minutes.
  11. 11. Turn the artichokes and grill the second side for another two minutes.
  12. 12. Remove the grilled artichokes from the grill and place them on a plate.
  13. 13. Press the garlic cloves through a garlic press.
  14. 14. Mix the pressed garlic with the olive oil in a small bowl.
  15. 15. Pour the garlic oil over the warm artichokes.
  16. 16. Let the artichokes marinate in the oil for about ten minutes to absorb the flavor.
  17. 17. Serve the finished artichokes immediately.
