🍽️ Papaya Shells Stuffed with Tomato-Papaya Filling

Ingredients
- 2 large tomatoes
- 2 tbsp cilantro leaves (chopped)
- 1 onion
- 4 garlic cloves
- 2 papayas
- 8 tbsp olive oil
- salt
- black pepper from the mill
- nutmeg
- 100 g grated Gruyère cheese
- 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp butter flakes
- cilantro leaves (for garnishing)
- 1 packet tortilla chips (ready-made product)
Instructions
- 1. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes briefly.
- 2. Peel the skin off the tomatoes.
- 3. Remove the seeds from the tomatoes.
- 4. Cut the tomato flesh into small cubes.
- 5. Peel the onion and the garlic cloves.
- 6. Cut the onion and garlic into fine cubes.
- 7. Rinse the papayas thoroughly.
- 8. Cut the papayas in half lengthwise.
- 9. Remove the seeds from the papaya halves.
- 10. Carefully scoop out the fruit flesh from the shells using a sharp spoon.
- 11. Leave a border of about 1 cm wide on the edge of the shell.
- 12. Cut the removed papaya flesh into cubes.
- 13. Heat 4 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
- 14. Sauté the onion and garlic cubes in it until translucent.
- 15. Stir the tomato and papaya cubes into the onion mixture.
- 16. Let the mixture simmer gently for a few minutes.
- 17. Season the filling with salt, pepper, and grated nutmeg.
- 18. Mix the warm mixture with the grated cheese.
- 19. Add the breadcrumbs to the mixture.
- 20. Add the butter to the mixture.
- 21. Fold in the chopped coriander leaves.
- 22. Add the remaining olive oil to the mixture.
- 23. Fill the papaya halves with the prepared mixture.
- 24. Place the stuffed papayas in a greased baking dish.
- 25. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius.
- 26. Bake the papayas in the preheated oven for approx. 20 minutes.
- 27. Garnish the finished papaya with fresh coriander leaves.
- 28. Serve the stuffed papaya together with tortilla chips.
