  2. 2. Place the rice in a pot with a tight-fitting lid.
  3. 3. Cover the rice with 375 milliliters of salted water.
  4. 4. Bring the water to a boil.
  5. 5. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
  6. 6. Cook the rice with the lid closed for 15 to 20 minutes.
  7. 7. Remove the pot from the heat when the water is absorbed and the surface looks dry.
  8. 8. Let the rice steam for another 10 minutes with the lid on.
  9. 9. Open the lid and let the rice cool down completely.
  10. 10. Whisk the two eggs in a small bowl.
  11. 11. Season the egg mixture with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper.
  12. 12. Rinse the shrimp briefly under cold water.
  13. 13. Pat the shrimp dry with a kitchen towel.
  14. 14. Cut the shrimp into small pieces.
  15. 15. Peel the shallots and garlic.
  16. 16. Chop the shallots and garlic very finely.
  17. 17. Heat the oil in a hot wok.
  18. 18. Fry the finely diced shallots and garlic until fragrant.
  19. 19. Add the shrimp and terasi (fermented fish paste).
  20. 20. Fry everything while stirring constantly for about 1 minute.
  21. 21. Add the minced meat to the wok.
  22. 22. Fry the minced meat until it breaks down into small crumbles.
  23. 23. Mix in the cooled rice.
  24. 24. Fry everything together until the rice becomes slightly crispy.
  25. 25. Pour the whisked eggs over the rice mixture.
  26. 26. Stir constantly until the eggs set.
  27. 27. Season the dish to taste with kecap manis (sweet soy sauce).
  28. 28. Add sambal oelek (chili paste).
  29. 29. Finally, season with a little salt.
