  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
  2. 2. Wash the apples thoroughly.
  3. 3. Cut off the top part of each apple to use as a lid.
  4. 4. Remove the core using a corer.
  5. 5. Hollow out the flesh slightly, but leave a small border intact.
  6. 6. Finely chop the walnut kernels.
  7. 7. Add the walnuts, hazelnuts, and raisins to a bowl.
  8. 8. Mash the marzipan with the liqueur in a small bowl using a fork.
  9. 9. Add the marzipan mixture to the nuts and raisins.
  10. 10. Whip the egg whites with the vanilla sugar until stiff.
  11. 11. Gently fold the stiff egg whites into the nut mixture.
  12. 12. Fill the mixture into the hollowed-out apple halves.
  13. 13. Place the apple lids back on top.
  14. 14. Place the apples in a buttered baking dish.
  15. 15. Bake the apples in the oven for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  16. 16. Dust the finished apples with cinnamon before serving.
