🍽️ Crispy Maultaschen with Fresh Salad

Ingredients
- 2 small romaine lettuce hearts
- 1 red bell pepper
- 250 g Maultaschen (ready-made or homemade)
- 0.5 bunch chives
- 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
- 2 tbsp white balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- 2 tbsp fried onions (ready-made or homemade)
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the lettuce hearts under running water.
- 2. Shake the vegetables vigorously to remove excess water.
- 3. Cut the lettuce hearts lengthwise into four equal strips.
- 4. Cut the bell pepper in half lengthwise.
- 5. Remove the seeds and white pith from the bell pepper.
- 6. Rinse the deseeded bell pepper.
- 7. Dice the bell pepper into very small cubes.
- 8. Slice the Maultaschen into pieces about one centimeter thick.
- 9. Rinse the chives under running water.
- 10. Shake the chives dry.
- 11. Cut the chives into small rings.
- 12. Heat the rapeseed oil in a non-stick pan.
- 13. Place the Maultaschen slices into the hot pan.
- 14. Fry the slices until golden brown over medium heat.
- 15. Turn the Maultaschen frequently so they cook evenly.
- 16. This takes about five to six minutes.
- 17. Whisk the vinegar with two tablespoons of water in a bowl.
- 18. Stir the olive oil into the vinegar-water mixture.
- 19. Add the diced bell pepper to the dressing mixture.
- 20. Add the chive rings.
- 21. Season the mixture with salt.
- 22. Season the mixture with pepper.
- 23. Place the lettuce quarters onto the plates.
- 24. Distribute the fried Maultaschen over the salad.
- 25. Pour the pepper-chive mixture over the dish.
- 26. Sprinkle the dish with fried onions.
- 27. Serve the dish immediately.
