🍽️ Oven-Baked Tofu Tomatoes

Ingredients
- 8 Tomatoes
- Olive oil (for the pan)
- 8 Spring onions
- 2 fresh garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 400 g Smoked tofu
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped thyme
- 60 g grated cheese (e.g. Gouda)
- Chili salt
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the tomatoes under running water.
- 2. Slice off the top part of each tomato flat.
- 3. Set aside the cut-off pieces to use as lids later.
- 4. Remove the flesh and seeds from the inside of the tomatoes.
- 5. Make sure the tomato shells remain intact.
- 6. Drain any excess liquid from the hollowed tomatoes.
- 7. Lightly grease a baking dish with oil.
- 8. Place the empty tomatoes into the prepared dish.
- 9. Turn on the oven.
- 10. Set the temperature to 180 degrees Celsius.
- 11. Select the heating setting for top and bottom heat.
- 12. Wash the spring onions under cold water.
- 13. Slice the spring onions into thin rings.
- 14. Peel the skin off the garlic.
- 15. Chop the garlic into very thin slices.
- 16. Heat some oil in a pan.
- 17. Add the spring onion rings to the hot pan.
- 18. Add the garlic slices to the pan.
- 19. Fry the vegetables for two minutes.
- 20. Remove the pan from the heat as soon as it smells fragrant.
- 21. Cut the tofu into small cubes.
- 22. Mix the tofu with the fried vegetables.
- 23. Add thyme to the tofu mixture.
- 24. Add grated cheese to the tofu mixture.
- 25. Season the filling with chili salt.
- 26. Fill the tomatoes with the tofu mixture.
- 27. Place the tomato lids on top of the filled tomatoes.
- 28. Place the baking dish into the preheated oven.
- 29. Bake the tomatoes for 20 minutes.
