🍰 Baked Quark Toasts

Ingredients
- 1 vanilla pod
- 250 g buttermilk quark
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 large organic orange (or 2 small)
- 2 eggs
- 225 ml milk (1.5% fat)
- 1 pinch salt
- 8 slices whole grain toast
- 2 tbsp rapeseed oil
Instructions
- 1. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise into two halves.
- 2. Scrape out the tiny seeds from the pod using a knife.
- 3. Stir the quark until smooth with the maple syrup and vanilla seeds.
- 4. Rinse the orange under hot water and dry it off.
- 5. Grate the fine orange peel and stir it into the quark.
- 6. Peel the orange completely, ensuring the white pith is also removed.
- 7. Cut out the fruit segments from between the membranes.
- 8. Place the orange pieces in a small bowl and set aside.
- 9. Whisk the eggs, milk, and salt together in a shallow baking dish.
- 10. Turn the bread slices in the egg mixture in batches.
- 11. Grease a large non-stick pan with half a tablespoon of oil.
- 12. Heat the pan.
- 13. Fry two bread slices in it for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 14. Repeat the process until all the oil is used up and all toasts are fried.
- 15. Serve the toasts with the quark and orange segments.
