🍽️ Baked Bread Stuffing

Ingredients
- 10 stale rolls
- 4 shallots
- 200 g chestnuts (pre-cooked, ready for cooking)
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped herbs (e.g. parsley and thyme)
- 3 eggs
- 200 ml whipping cream
- 200 ml milk
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg
- butter (for the dish)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
- 2. Grease the baking dishes or four portion molds with butter.
- 3. Cut the rolls into small cubes.
- 4. Peel the shallots and cut them into wedges.
- 5. Halve the chestnuts.
- 6. Peel the garlic clove and chop it finely.
- 7. Heat the butter in a pan.
- 8. Sauté the shallots, chestnuts, and garlic in the hot butter until translucent.
- 9. Remove the pan from the heat.
- 10. Stir the herbs into the vegetable mixture.
- 11. Mix the bread cubes with the herb mixture.
- 12. Transfer the mixture into the prepared dish.
- 13. Whisk the eggs with the cream and milk.
- 14. Season the liquid generously with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 15. Pour the liquid over the bread cubes.
- 16. Bake the stuffing in the oven for about 45 minutes until nicely browned.
