  1. 1. Sift the flour into a large bowl.
  2. 2. Add the egg yolks, cream, baking powder, salt, and rum to the bowl.
  3. 3. Knead the ingredients into a firm and pliable dough.
  4. 4. Dust a work surface with flour.
  5. 5. Roll out the dough thinly on the floured surface.
  6. 6. Cut the dough into strips of about 3 by 12 centimeters using a pastry wheel.
  7. 7. Cut a slit lengthwise down the center of each strip.
  8. 8. Pull one end of the strip through the slit to form a loop.
  9. 9. Heat the lard in a pan to about 170 degrees Celsius.
  10. 10. Fry the dough loops in batches in the hot fat.
  11. 11. Cook them for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown.
  12. 12. Let the finished rolls drain on kitchen paper.
  13. 13. Dust them with powdered sugar and serve.
