Ingredients
- 600 g herring fillet
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp granulated mustard
- 1 tbsp grated horseradish (fresh, or jar)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- oil (for frying)
- flour (for dredging)
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the fish thoroughly and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- 2. Season the fish with salt and pepper.
- 3. Whisk the eggs in a bowl with mustard, horseradish, and starch until you have a smooth mixture.
- 4. Coat the fish strips in flour so that they are completely covered.
- 5. Shake off any excess flour from the fish strips.
- 6. Dip the floured fish strips one by one into the egg mixture.
- 7. Let the excess egg mixture drip off for a short moment.
- 8. Fry the fish strips immediately in hot oil until they are golden brown.
- 9. Place the fried fish on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.
- 10. Serve the fish immediately while they are still hot and crispy.
