🍽️ Crispy Fried Onion Balls

Ingredients
- 4 onions
- 1 green chili pepper
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 80 g chickpea flour
- 0.5 tsp ground cumin
- 1 pinch chili powder
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onions and cut them in half.
- 2. Cut the onion halves into very fine strips.
- 3. Rinse the chili pepper thoroughly.
- 4. Slice the chili pepper lengthwise.
- 5. Remove the seeds and white pith from the pod.
- 6. Dice the chili pepper into very small pieces.
- 7. Place the onion strips and chili dice into a large bowl.
- 8. Pour the lemon juice over the onions and chili.
- 9. Add the chickpea flour to the bowl.
- 10. Sprinkle the cumin over the mixture.
- 11. Add the chili flakes.
- 12. Salt the mixture generously.
- 13. Pepper the mixture to taste.
- 14. Add a little cold water.
- 15. Mix all ingredients well until a moldable mass forms.
- 16. Heat oil in a pan or pot until hot.
- 17. Take a teaspoon and form small balls from the mixture.
- 18. Fry the balls in batches in the hot oil.
- 19. Cook the balls for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.
- 20. Remove the balls from the oil and let them drain on kitchen paper.
- 21. Serve the fried balls hot.
- 22. Serve chutney on the side if desired.
