Ingredients
- 14 Jalapeños (or mini bell peppers)
- 150 g cream cheese (double cream level)
- 125 g grated cheddar
- 100 ml milk
- 60 g flour
- 70 g breadcrumbs
- 0.5 tsp chili powder
- 0.5 tsp paprika powder (sweet)
- vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Wash the jalapeños thoroughly and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- 2. Slice the peppers lengthwise.
- 3. Carefully remove the seeds and the white inner membranes.
- 4. Mix the cream cheese with the cheddar until you have a creamy mixture.
- 5. Fill the empty jalapeño halves with the cheese mixture.
- 6. Pour the milk into a shallow plate.
- 7. Roll the stuffed jalapeños briefly in the milk until they are moist all over.
- 8. Then roll them in the flour.
- 9. Let the breaded jalapeños dry slightly for about 10 minutes.
- 10. Mix the breadcrumbs with the chili powder and the paprika powder.
- 11. Spread the spice mixture onto a clean plate.
- 12. Moisten the jalapeños again briefly in the milk.
- 13. Roll them vigorously in the breadcrumb mixture until they are thickly coated.
- 14. Let them dry for another 10 minutes.
- 15. Repeat the breading process (milk, flour, breadcrumbs) a second time.
- 16. Ensure that the jalapeños are now thickly and evenly enclosed in the coating.
- 17. Heat the frying oil in a pot to approximately 170 degrees Celsius.
- 18. Fry the jalapeños in batches until golden brown and crispy.
- 19. The frying time is 2 to 3 minutes per batch.
- 20. Remove the finished jalapeños from the oil and let them drain on kitchen paper.
- 21. Serve the poppers immediately while hot.
