  1. 1. Heat a pan without oil or butter.
  2. 2. Roast the pine nuts in the pan until they are golden brown.
  3. 3. Remove the roasted pine nuts from the pan and set them aside.
  4. 4. Wash the basil leaves under running water.
  5. 5. Shake the leaves dry to remove excess water.
  6. 6. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems.
  7. 7. Put the basil leaves, the roasted pine nuts, the Parmesan, half of the oil, salt, and pepper into a blender.
  8. 8. Blend the ingredients finely until a smooth paste forms.
  9. 9. Pour the remaining oil into the pesto mixture.
  10. 10. Mix the pesto well until the oil is fully incorporated.
  11. 11. Fill the finished pesto into a jar.
