🍽️ Crispy Meatballs in Spicy Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 600 g minced meat
- 1 shallot (finely chopped)
- 1 garlic clove (finely chopped)
- 1 bread roll
- breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp parsley (chopped)
- 1 tbsp thyme leaves (chopped)
- 1 tbsp mustard
- oil (for frying)
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- tomato sauce
- 400 g chopped tomatoes (can)
- 1 garlic clove (finely chopped)
- 1 shallot (chopped)
- 1 pinch sugar
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 200 ml vegetable broth
- thyme leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
- 2. Add the finely chopped shallot and garlic to the hot oil.
- 3. Sauté the vegetables briefly until fragrant.
- 4. Add the tomatoes and the meat broth to the pan.
- 5. Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes.
- 6. Season the sauce with a pinch of sugar, salt, and pepper.
- 7. Soak the bread rolls in some lukewarm water.
- 8. Then squeeze the soaked bread well to remove excess water.
- 9. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a separate pan.
- 10. Sauté the finely chopped shallot and garlic in it.
- 11. Add the chopped parsley and thyme.
- 12. Let this mixture cool down briefly.
- 13. Mix the minced meat with the eggs, the squeezed bread, the cooled vegetable mixture, paprika, mustard, and ketchup.
- 14. If necessary, add some breadcrumbs until the mixture is moldable.
- 15. Season the meat mixture generously with salt and pepper.
- 16. Form small balls from the meat mixture.
- 17. Fry the balls in hot oil until golden brown on all sides.
- 18. This takes about 10 minutes.
- 19. Serve the meatballs with the tomato sauce.
- 20. Garnish the dish with fresh thyme leaves.
