🍽️ Frikadellen with Tomato-Mozzarella Topping

Ingredients
- 600 g floury potatoes
- salt
- nutmeg (freshly grated)
- 150 g flour
- 1 egg
- flour (for working)
- 1 clove garlic
- 600 g mixed minced meat
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- olive oil
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 ball mozzarella (approx. 125 g)
- 1 zucchini
- 2 tbsp butter
- 200 ml whipping cream
- basil (for garnishing)
Instructions
- 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 2. Boil the potatoes in salted water for about 30 minutes until tender.
- 3. Drain the water and let the potatoes steam dry.
- 4. Let the potatoes cool down briefly.
- 5. Peel the cooled potatoes.
- 6. Press the potatoes through a potato ricer.
- 7. Spread the potatoes out on your work surface.
- 8. Season the potatoes with salt and nutmeg.
- 9. Sprinkle the flour over the potatoes.
- 10. Knead the mixture with the egg into a smooth dough.
- 11. Take about one third of the dough.
- 12. Roll the dough on a floured surface into a finger-thick rope.
- 13. Cut or tear the rope into pieces about 1 cm long.
- 14. Roll each piece over the tines of a fork for the classic pattern.
- 15. Shape the remaining dough into gnocchi as well.
- 16. Peel the garlic clove.
- 17. Press the garlic into the minced meat.
- 18. Knead the minced meat with egg, oregano, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
- 19. Shape 8 minced meat steaks from the mixture.
- 20. Fry the steaks in 2 tablespoons of hot oil until golden brown on all sides.
- 21. Wash the tomatoes.
- 22. Remove the stem area from the tomatoes.
- 23. Slice the tomatoes.
- 24. Drain the mozzarella.
- 25. Slice the mozzarella.
- 26. Preheat the oven to 200°C top and bottom heat.
- 27. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 28. Place the minced meat steaks on the baking tray.
- 29. Cover the steaks in an overlapping pattern with tomato and mozzarella slices.
- 30. Gratin the steaks in the preheated oven for about 8 minutes.
- 31. Bring plenty of salted water to a boil in a large pot.
- 32. Slide the gnocchi into the boiling water.
- 33. Let the gnocchi simmer gently.
- 34. Remove the gnocchi with a slotted spoon when they float to the surface.
- 35. Let the gnocchi drain well.
- 36. Wash the zucchini.
- 37. Trim the zucchini.
- 38. Slice or shred the zucchini into thin slices.
- 39. Melt butter in a hot pan.
- 40. Sauté the zucchini slices in the butter.
- 41. Add the gnocchi to the zucchini.
- 42. Toss the gnocchi briefly.
- 43. Pour in the cream.
- 44. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
- 45. Season the sauce with nutmeg.
- 46. Simmer the sauce for 2-3 minutes.
- 47. Plate the steaks with the vegetables and gnocchi on pre-warmed plates.
- 48. Garnish the dish with basil.
- 49. Serve the dish.
