  1. 1. Heat a pan with a little oil over medium-high heat.
  2. 2. Peel the onion and chop it very finely.
  3. 3. Heat the butter in a separate small pan and soften the chopped onion in it without letting it brown.
  4. 4. Briefly dip the breadcrumbs (or stale bread) into hot water.
  5. 5. Squeeze the soaked breadcrumbs well with your hands until they are dry.
  6. 6. Add the squeezed breadcrumbs, the sautéed onion, salt, and pepper to the minced meat.
  7. 7. Work the ingredients together with your hands to form a uniform meat mixture.
  8. 8. Wet your hands with a little water so the mixture does not stick.
  9. 9. Shape the meat mixture into small, flat meatballs.
  10. 10. Fry the meatballs in the preheated pan with oil.
  11. 11. Fry them for about 6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  12. 12. Remove the cooked meatballs from the pan and keep them warm.
  13. 13. Peel the cucumbers and scrape out the seeds with a spoon.
  14. 14. Slice the deseeded cucumber halves into thin slices.
  15. 15. Peel the onion and garlic and chop both finely.
  16. 16. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic in a little oil in a clean pan.
  17. 17. Squeeze the lemon and add the juice along with the cucumber slices, salt, and mustard to the pan.
  18. 18. Add half of the cream and bring the mixture to a brief boil.
  19. 19. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the vegetables for about 5 minutes until tender.
  20. 20. Stir in the remaining cream gradually into the vegetables.
  21. 21. Prepare the mashed potatoes according to the instructions on the package.
  22. 22. Serve the meatballs together with the warm cucumber stew and the mashed potatoes.
  23. 23. Garnish the dish with freshly chopped parsley.
