🍽️ Meatballs with Blue Cheese and Caramelized Onions

Ingredients
- 4 shallots
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 100 ml red wine
- 50 g blue cheese
- 1 roll (from the previous day)
- 500 g mixed minced meat
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1 tsp hot mustard
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary)
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- oil (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the shallots and slice them into thin rings.
- 2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the shallots over medium heat until translucent.
- 3. Deglaze the onions with red wine.
- 4. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes until almost all the liquid has evaporated.
- 5. Soak the bread roll in a little water.
- 6. Squeeze the soaked bread roll well to remove excess water.
- 7. Add the minced meat, the bread roll, the egg, paprika powder, mustard, and herbs to a bowl.
- 8. Knead the ingredients into a uniform dough.
- 9. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper.
- 10. Shape 8 meatballs of equal size from the mixture.
- 11. Fry the meatballs in hot oil for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 12. Place the cooked meatballs on the plates.
- 13. Crumble the blue cheese over the meatballs.
- 14. Add the caramelized onions on top of the meatballs.
- 15. Serve the dish with mashed potatoes as desired.
