  1. 1. Season the fish fillets with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  2. 2. Peel the garlic and chop it into small cubes.
  3. 3. Wash the spinach, remove tough stems, and spin it dry.
  4. 4. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a pot.
  5. 5. Sauté the chopped garlic in the butter for a short time.
  6. 6. Add the spinach and stir until it wilts.
  7. 7. Season the spinach with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
  8. 8. Peel the potatoes and wash them.
  9. 9. Slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
  10. 10. Whisk crème fraîche, cream, grated cheese, and eggs together in a bowl.
  11. 11. Season the cream mixture with a little salt and pepper.
  12. 12. Grease a baking dish.
  13. 13. Place half of the potato slices as the first layer in the dish.
  14. 14. Distribute the seasoned fish and spinach evenly on top.
  15. 15. Cover everything with the remaining potato slices.
  16. 16. Pour the egg-cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  17. 17. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  18. 18. Bake the gratin for 40 to 50 minutes in the center of the oven.
