  1. 1. Rinse four screw-top jars (each 400 milliliters) along with their lids using boiling water.
  2. 2. Let the jars drain upside down on a kitchen towel.
  3. 3. Quarter the figs.
  4. 4. Place the fig pieces with the cut side facing up on a cutting board.
  5. 5. Carefully scrape the fruit flesh out of the skins using a spoon.
  6. 6. Weigh out 800 grams of fruit flesh.
  7. 7. Wash the redcurrants and let them drain well.
  8. 8. Strip the berries from the stems using a fork.
  9. 9. Mix the fig fruit flesh with 700 grams of redcurrants.
  10. 10. Put the fruit and the sugar into a pot.
  11. 11. Stir the mixture thoroughly.
  12. 12. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly.
  13. 13. Let the jam bubble vigorously for at least 3 minutes.
  14. 14. Keep stirring to prevent burning.
  15. 15. Add the cassis (blackcurrant juice).
  16. 16. Let the mixture cook for another 1 minute.
  17. 17. Fill the hot liquid into the prepared jars.
  18. 18. Seal the jars with the lids.
  19. 19. Place the jars upside down for 5 minutes.
  20. 20. Then place the jars upright again.
