  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Place the bread roll in a bowl with cold water and let it soak.
  3. 3. Peel the onions and cut them into very small cubes.
  4. 4. Squeeze the soaked bread roll firmly with your hands until no water remains.
  5. 5. Add the squeezed bread roll to a large bowl along with the minced meat, onion cubes, bacon, eggs, mustard, and breadcrumbs.
  6. 6. Mix all ingredients thoroughly by hand or with a spoon until a homogeneous mixture forms.
  7. 7. Season the meat mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. 8. Line a small loaf pan with aluminum foil.
  9. 9. Fill the meat mixture into the prepared pan and smooth it out.
  10. 10. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake the loaf for about 60 minutes.
  11. 11. Rinse the cherry tomatoes under running water.
  12. 12. Pat the tomatoes dry with a kitchen towel.
  13. 13. Remove the loaf from the oven briefly after 50 minutes of baking time.
  14. 14. Distribute the prepared tomatoes evenly over the surface of the loaf.
  15. 15. Lightly salt and pepper the tomatoes.
  16. 16. Place the loaf back in the oven and finish baking it for the remaining time.
  17. 17. Remove the finished loaf from the oven.
  18. 18. Carefully loosen the loaf from the pan and lift it onto a serving plate.
  19. 19. Sprinkle fresh basil over the loaf.
  20. 20. Slice the loaf and serve it.
