🍽️ Classic Falscher Hase with Egg

Ingredients
- 0.5 red bell pepper
- 0.5 yellow bell pepper
- 2 stale rolls
- 2 hard-boiled eggs
- 2 onions
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- 700 g mixed minced meat
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp mustard (medium hot)
- 2 tbsp finely chopped parsley
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- vegetable oil (for the pan)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius using top and bottom heat.
- 2. Wash the bell peppers thoroughly and remove the inner seeds and core.
- 3. Cut the bell peppers into small cubes.
- 4. Soak the bread rolls briefly in lukewarm water.
- 5. Boil the eggs until hard-boiled.
- 6. Peel the boiled eggs carefully.
- 7. Cut the peeled eggs in half lengthwise.
- 8. Peel the onions.
- 9. Dice the onions finely.
- 10. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a frying pan.
- 11. Sauté the onion cubes in the hot oil until they become soft and translucent.
- 12. Remove the frying pan from the heat source.
- 13. Stir the dried herbs into the onions.
- 14. Squeeze the water out of the soaked bread rolls.
- 15. Place the minced meat into a large bowl.
- 16. Add the raw egg to the minced meat.
- 17. Add the mustard to the meat mixture.
- 18. Add the diced peppers to the meat mixture.
- 19. Add the parsley to the meat mixture.
- 20. Add the squeezed-out bread rolls to the meat mixture.
- 21. Mix all ingredients for the meat mixture thoroughly together.
- 22. Season the meat mixture with salt.
- 23. Season the meat mixture with pepper.
- 24. Gently fold the seasoned onions into the meat mixture.
- 25. Grease a baking dish with some fat.
- 26. Place half of the meat mixture into the baking dish.
- 27. Press an oval indentation into the layer of meat.
- 28. Place the halved eggs into the indentation.
- 29. Cover the eggs with the remaining meat mixture.
- 30. Shape the meat mixture into a uniform loaf.
- 31. Brush the surface of the meat with the remaining oil.
- 32. Place the loaf into the preheated oven.
- 33. Bake the Falscher Hase for 50 to 60 minutes.
