🍽️ Moroccan-style Honey Onions

Ingredients
- 500 g red onions
- 2 tbsp oil
- 3 tbsp liquid honey
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground coriander
- 150 ml port wine
- 5 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 3 tbsp raisins
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onions.
- 2. Cut the onions into thin strips.
- 3. Heat the oil in a pot.
- 4. Sauté the onion strips lightly in the oil.
- 5. Pour the honey over the onions.
- 6. Stir until the honey caramelizes.
- 7. Add the spices.
- 8. Deglaze the mixture with port wine.
- 9. Add the vinegar.
- 10. Pour in 70 milliliters of water.
- 11. Stir in the raisins.
- 12. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- 13. Simmer the onions uncovered over low heat.
- 14. Simmer the onions for 30 to 40 minutes.
- 15. Stir the onions occasionally.
- 16. Add a little more water if needed.
- 17. Serve the onions.
